Therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.  It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back pain, and sore shoulders.  Benefits of deep tissue massage include: alleviates pain, increases recovery from injuries, increases mobility, decreases muscle tension, helps recovery from repetative stresses, and improves posture.

Therapuetic Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage helps de-stress and loosen up your body and is great for those who have had a hard working week or feel like treating themselves to some TLC!  The treatment consist of flowing strokes, kneading and gentle manipulations of the muscles performed at your chosen pressure.  Benefits of relaxation massage include improved sleep, more energy, better resistance to illness, better concentration, and more patience.

Sports Massage

Sports massage uses a variety of manual therapy techniques that incorporate joint manipulation, stretching and deep tissue quick releases.  This type of massage therapy is generated towards athletes of all kinds.  The goal is to improve muscle recovery, increase mobility, and increase flexibility.  Sports massage specifically works on the muscle - tendon junctions to meet these above goals.  Any person participating in regular physical activity would benefit from adding sports massage into their normal regimen.

Oncology Massage

Oncology massage is a type of massage that incorporates and modifies a variety of existing massage techniques in order to safely work with the complications of both cancer and cancer treatments.  Treatments are performed on patients with active cancer as well as those with a cancer treatment history.  Benefits of oncology massage include: improved relaxation, sleep, and immune function as well as relieving anxiety, pain, fatigue and nausea.

Prenatal and Postpartum Massage

Prenatal massage is bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramtic changes of pregnacy.  It enhances the function on the muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.  The benefits of prenatal massage include: reduce anxiety, decreased symptoms of depression, relieves muscle aches and joint pains, and improves labor outcomes and newborn health.

Postpartum massage can be as important and beneficial as massage during pregnancy.  Along with helping with the adjustment of motherhood, post partum massage benefits include: C-section scar reduction, relaxation, stress reduction, hormone regulation, reduced swelling, better sleep and improved breastfeeding.
Infant Massage
I​​​​​​​nfant massage is the bonding activity between parents and their children.  In the most basic terms, infant massage refers to the process of stroking the muscles of an infant using a variety of specialized massage techniques. Vocalization, eye-to-eye contact, and other positive behavioral reinforcements are also components of the massage.  Studies have shown that infant massage alleviates the stress that newborns experience as a result of the enormous change that birth creates.  ​​​

Benefits of massage for infants includes: helps the baby learn to relax, improves immune system, promotes bonding and communication, promotes postive body image, decreases the production of stress hormones, promotes sounder and longer sleep, regulates digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems,  and helps releive discomfort from gas and colic, congestion and teething. 

Benefits of infant massage for the parent include: improves parent-infant communication, it helps parents to understand and respond appropriately to baby's non verbal cues, ease stress of the parents who have to be seperated from the baby during the day, helps deepen bonding, increases the parents' ability to help the baby relax during times of stress, and it is fun and relaxing for parents to massage their infants.


During your session for your infant massage, Joy will teach you the basic full body infant massage routine.  She will also teach you ways to deal with indigestion, colic and irritability.  Joy will provide you with a great deal of informative hand outs that you are able to keep and use throughout your infants childhood.

 

Massage Parties

A Massage Party is a great way to enjoy getting together with friends and family.  It can be a time to celebrate a special occasion, such as a birthday, bridal shower, or for any other reason you could think of.  Massage parties can also be a new twist on a girls night.  Instead of girls night out, we call it a girls night in!  A massage party can offer 30 and 60 minute massages to your guests as well as hand, foot and chair massages can be arranged.  Host of the party will recieve a free massage (5 person minimum).
